What Does the Hertz Rental Car Guarantee Cover
Hertz Rental Cars are covered by several guarantees.
The 10-Minute Guarantee
Hertz has introduced a faster way to be on your way. If you rent from them, they guarantee it will take 10 minutes or less, or they will give you $50 toward a rental!
Below are the details and requirements:
- You must first check-in online at Hertz anytime before arriving at the Hertz rental location. You will be given a bar-coded confirmation.
- Print your confirmation and take it to the Hertz self-service kiosk or express counter.
- If you wait in line more than 10 minutes, see a Hertz representative for the $50 credit.
- Although online check-in is available at all locations in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas, this guarantee is only valid at 50 Participating Airport Locations
- No cash payments are made, the credit can only be applied to the current or future rental.
- If you are under age 25, you may not be able to check-in online.
- Tour and prepaid rentals are not available for online check-in and do not qualify.
- This guarantee could be terminated or modified at any time.
Emergency Roadside Assistance
Hertz will provide Emergency Roadside Assistance. If you have problems with the rental car, just call 1-800-654-5060 from anywhere in the United States or Canada. A representative will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to make arrangements for you to be on your way again – as quickly as possible.
Late Return Grace Period
If you return the rental less than 30 minutes late, in most cases, you will not be charged extra.
No Penalties for Cancelled Reservations
Reservations processed through the Hertz website currently do not have a penalty associated to the rate or to the vehicle confirmed, if cancelled. However, if the reservation was made through a travel agent or a Hertz reservations phone number, there may be a cancellation penalty.
Guaranteed Satisfaction with Vehicle
If you are given a vehicle that you are not satisfied with for any reason, Hertz will give you another car that will meet with your approval.

Prepaid Savings Guarantee
Available in 21 states in the United States, this offer is guaranteed to save you money if you prepay for your car rental. Several terms and conditions apply, and it is advisable to check them out before you prepay. You may not be able to get a refund for unused extra days. However, after you have researched the terms, you may discover that the savings for prepaying are worthwhile. Prepaid savings are based on the rental location and date of rental. You will need to determine those factors before learning how much you will save. For example, a Ford Focus may cost $326.00 per week if you pay later, but if you prepay, it would only cost $261.00 per week. That is a substantial savings.
