A minimum recommended car maintenance check extends the oil change service quite a bit. The car’s tires and brakes should be inspected, especially on higher mileage vehicles. The air filter is checked. Belts and hoses are inspected for wear. Brake fluid is inspected for color and sediment. Automatic transmission fluid is checked for level and condition. Engine coolant is also checked for level and condition. The vehicle’s steering and suspension systems are checked for leaks and excess ‘play’ or motion in an undesirable direction. Windshield wiper blades are checked and the washer fluid is topped off. Finally, the engine and transmission are checked for leaks.
