The Honda Civic hatchback CX is the four-passenger version of the Honda Civic, and it is powered by a larger 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The hatchback CX, part of the fourth generation of Honda Civics, appeared in about 1993, the year after the CRX was discontinued. The CRX was also a hatchback, but it was a two-seater. It did offer a huge amount of cargo space under a very large hatch. Although it was powered by an engine that was slightly smaller – 1.5-liters – the CRX was meant to be a performance-oriented vehicle. So its gearing was oriented toward performance and not emissions or economy.
