Vehicle curb weight is defined as the total weight of a vehicle with its standard equipment, all necessary operating mechanisms and a full tank of fuel, but is not loaded with freight or passengers. The curb weight stat helps potential vehicle buyers determine how heavy their vehicle will be prior to loading it with freight or passengers, which could be a selling point for some buyers from one vehicle to the next. Heavier vehicles in terms of curb weight will operate easier on icy roads because they will be more difficult to skid and fishtail because of their natural weight prior to adding passengers.
