• Toyota Warranty Coverage Options

Before you purchase a Toyota vehicle, you should familiarize yourself with the different types of Toyota warranty coverage plans that you can purchase to help protect your investment. Warranties work by helping to cover (or, occasionally, covering entirely) the costs of repairing or replacing certain parts of your vehicle when they become prematurely damaged or broken. As such, a warranty offer is good from the time that you purchase your vehicle and typically lasts for either a few years or a certain number of miles driven on the car. Toyota offers an excellent warranties package, but you’ll need to be aware of the different types of warranty that you can get in order to maximize your benefits.

    Toyota Factory Warranty

The standard factory warranty issued by Toyota is for a 36 month period or for 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This warranty is an extended Toyota warranty that covers all of the components of your vehicle for any type of damage that’s unrelated to standard deterioration and wear. Best of all, if your vehicle is a used Toyota that is less than three years old and has fewer than 36,000 miles on it, you can still take advantage of the initial warranty offer from the manufacturer.

    Powertrain Warranty

The powertrain warranty is an extended warranty option that you can purchase in addition to the basic warranty coverage. The powertrain on your vehicle consists of the engine, the transmission and transmission computer system, the drive axle, and in Toyota’s case, the seat belts and air bags on the vehicle as well. Toyota’s powertrain warranty extends coverage for these various components of your vehicle for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is an excellent warranty to purchase, because the components that make up the powertrain in your vehicle are among the most important in your car. If any of them do not work properly, you can put yourself at great risk of injury or accident.

    Rust and Corrosion Warranty

Toyota’s rust and corrosion warranty deals with any naturally occurring rust or corrosion damage that may harm the surface of your vehicle. This can occur after an incident like an accident or a crash, or it can also develop as a result of natural exposure in some cases. Left untreated, rust and corrosion can be a major problem for your vehicle. Toyota’s rust and corrosion warranty is valid for 5 years and an unlimited number of miles driven on the car.

    Emissions Coverage

Toyota also offers warranties in certain states that have emissions guidelines. These warranties are designed to ensure that any Toyota vehicle is consistently up to date and in keeping with the mandates of the emissions guidelines in that particular state. As these warranties will vary, you’ll need to speak with a Toyota dealer or representative for additional information.
