Buying Pre-Owned Luxury Cars
As mentioned above, luxury vehicles take a pretty big hit in resale value during the first couple of years. Used luxury car prices for vehicles that are only two or three years old will be considerably less than the price of a new car. In fact, to better understand how much less pre-owned car prices can be, please review the following pricing example.
A brand new Cadillac DTS can cost up to $59,475. For that price, you get the new car smell and a great luxury car with all the bells and whistles. However, a 2008 model Cadillac DTS in excellent condition and with fewer than 30,000 miles on the odometer can be purchased for around half that amount. You can even purchase a Cadillac certified used DTS that will come with a manufacturer’s warranty and may also qualify you for low financing rates.
Although some of the vehicles in our list of popular new luxury cars have a slightly better resale value than the Cadillac DTS, there are none that will not depreciate at least 10 to 15 percent per year. A used luxury car in good condition still has many years and many miles left on it, and provides an opportunity to own a true luxury vehicle at a rock-bottom price.
