Yes, a car accident can lead up to a rebuilt title for the damaged vehicle. A severe car accident that causes damage beyond approximately 75% of the vehicle’s worth will constitute a total loss in the eyes of an insurance carrier. A vehicle which once sustained significant damage enough for the insurance company to declare it a total loss. Therefore, classifying the vehicle as salvage, can be rebuilt or restored to operational standards, but will have the distinction of having a rebuilt title. Laws regarding rebuilt/restored titles for salvage vehicles vary from state to state, so check with your local Department of Motor Vehicles for information.
