When is a 5 Point Racing Harness Required?
A 5 point racing harness is generally required only for higher tier events, where speeds are high enough that the risk of rolling the vehicle or high speed impacts are present. Such as drag racing with a quarter mile time of less than 10-11 seconds, or in wheel to wheel racing, or off-road competition. Basic and showroom stock level auto-cross, time-attack, and drag racing generally do not require a harness. It is important to carefully view the rules and regulations of the event you wish to participate in, as harness requirements can vary. So can their design and attachment points.
