Some simple tools are needed to rebuild a carburator. If you perform repairs on your vehicle, you probably already have them in your tool kit. A standard ratchet set is needed to un-bolt the carburator from the intake manifold. Most of the linkages attaching the carburator to the vehicle can be removed by hand or with the aid of a small regular (flat head) screwdriver. The carburator is assembled with common head bolt types: Philips, flat head or hex. Other tools needed would be pliers, regular and needle-nose, and several sizes of regular screwdrivers. In some cases, mini drill bits or fine-gauge wire would be needed to clear restrictions in the jets.
