A cool air intake system typically produces more horsepower than a short ram intake. They also tend to be more expensive than a short ram system. A cold air intake systems keeps the air filter out of the engine bay, while a short ram intake keeps the air filter inside the engine compartment. A short ram intake is cheaper, but does not provide the performance you will get from a cold air intake. Short rams are named for their short size. They are easy to install, only requiring a few tools, while a cool air intake system is a bit more complicated.
