Passenger Safety

What Cars Have the Best Passenger Safety

Bookmark and Share

Determining a car’s passenger safety rating takes into account several factors including the crash test rating and rollover data from both the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. There is no limit to the number of media outlets that can make their own list of the safest cars. However, the numbers will likely have been furnished by the same sources. The safest cars received the highest scores from the IIHS and were awarded a minimum of four of out five stars from the NHTSA. The ratings took into account crash-test scores and the efficacy of personal restraints and safety cage of each car.

Here is a list of the 15 safest cars according to the above-mentioned guidelines. Also included is a brief account of their safety features:

Notably absent from this list of safest cars are many GM and Ford products. Although known in the past for its safety, the Ford Explorer was not present, nor were trucks like the Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier. Indeed, most of the list is comprised of SUVs. Even if they are more expensive to fuel, safety is never compromised when driving one.
