• The Best Truck to Buy Based on Price, MPG, and Consumer Ratings and Reviews

When determining the best truck to buy there are many factors that need to be considered. A good way to start is to look at the best truck value and best rated trucks. Much of this will depend on your budget and why you are interested in a truck. Comparing the different factors and looking at them side by side can help determine which is the best choice. With so many different types of trucks to choose from, it can be a bit daunting to know where to start.

    Price

An excellent starting point is the price. Determine your budget and look for trucks that fall under that number. Resources such as buying guides can provide the approximate value of the vehicle. Normally, full size trucks will be in the $20,000 to $50,000 range. Full out luxury models can cost upwards of $100,000, if not more. Some of the cheapest options are the compact trucks with no additional features.

    Features

Are there specific features that will be required, or does it not matter how many people can fit in the cab? Many times a truck is used for work, and the engine and power output can be very important if the truck is used for towing or hauling heavy loads. Determine what features need to be included in the truck and which ones you would like, but when it comes down to it are not necessary.

    MPG

The miles per gallon, mpg, is really discussing the fuel economy of the vehicle. Trucks are big and heavy so it can be difficult to find stellar gas mileage. There are ones that can get fairly decent gas mileage of about 30 mpg. Another excellent option is to go for a truck with a diesel engine. While this will increase the cost a bit, diesel fuel economy is much better than gas fuel economy. The more miles per gallon, the less you will be spending on gas each year. Determine how much you normally drive each year and then calculate how much you would spend on gas for the different truck models of interest.

    Consumer Ratings and Reviews

Reading the ratings and reviews of each truck can help bring a little insight on what other drivers like about the trucks and areas that could use some improvement. Make sure some information about the person providing the review is available. It is important to read unbiased and informative reviews. Reviews by owners of the vehicles can provide a lot of information about the positives and negatives of the truck.

    A Few Recommendations

Based on several different parameters, some of the best trucks include the Toyota Tacoma which has excellent gas mileage and provides great value for the 2WD and 4WD models. If a full sized pickup is of interest, then the Chevrolet Silverado is available as a gasoline or hybrid and has several different options. The GMC Sierra is another excellent option, particularly for the full size heavy trucks.  The Toyota 4Runner has one of the lowest depreciations and will hold its value very well.
