3 Tips on Improving Auto Gas Mileage

Improving your auto gas mileage can be fairly simple. There are various techniques you can try and doing multiple of them can really lead to improving your fuel efficiency.
Slow Driving
This really means slower driving, as in maintaining the speed limit on the highways. Many people do drive over the speed limit, which is typically 55 miles per hour. 55 MPH is an optimal speed for maximum fuel economy, so you will want to go slower if you are typically over the speed limit. Plus, you won't get tickets this way.
Steady Driving
Smooth accelerations leads to better fuel economy. There is no need to accelerate roughly from zero miles per hour to your regular speed. Getting there over time is better on your gas mileage than getting there in an instant. Going quicker normally makes you have to brake sooner, so there isn't really any time gained.
Reducing Weight/Drag
The more your car weighs, the more gas that is needed to move the car. If you have any extra weight in the trunk, you will want to get rid of it. This is why trucks and SUVs have typically lower fuel economy numbers. You will also want to make your car more aerodynamic. This can be done by removing anything on the top of your car, such as storage bins or roof racks. Another way to do so is by reducing drag. Closing your windows can reduce drag.
There are even more ways to increase fuel economy, such as maintaining your car, reducing idling, cruise control, and avoiding traffic.
