There are four VW extended warranty plans for new Volkswagens and three for used Volkswagens. The four plans are rated “nice, good, better, best” by RealDriver and endorsed by VW.
The “nice” plan is called the RealDriver Powertrain plan. The “good” plan is called the RealDriver Silver Plan. The “better” plan is called the RealDriver Gold Plan. For new Volkswagens, the “best” plan is called the Platinum Plan, and for used vehicles it is called the Gold Plus Plan.
All plans include wear and tear coverage on all covered components for up to 50,000 miles. Parts and labor are included for the major components covered by the plan. If traveling more than 100 miles from home and a covered repair is required, some expenses are reimbursed. Towing fees, to authorized VW service centers, and car rental fees will be reimbursed up to plan maximums of $75 and $350, respectively. All plans can be paid for in one lump payment or can be financed interest free. Repairs must be made at a VW authorized service center.
Coverage for both new and used vehicles are similar, but coverage for new vehicles may be more comprehensive for components of some systems and assemblies. Coverage for used vehicles is limited to those vehicles under ten years old that have less than 140,000 miles. Used vehicles must also be in operable order.
