3 Facts to Know About Used Car Listings
Used car listings need to be read carefully. They may not include all the information you need to decide whether it’s worth your time to go see the car. There are a few things you should know about used car listings before you start looking through ads.
Used Car Inspections
Most dealers will advertise a used car that has gone through a "point" inspection. The number of points the car goes through depending on the dealership. The thing is, these are things that are usually always inspected before the dealer accepts the car anyhow. So this isn’t something that needs to be advertised. It’s designed to make the car look more desirable.
Parts Cars
If you are looking for a car and run across an add that states the car would be a great parts car, this usually is a nice way of saying junk car. Chances are this will never run and most of the parts are probably not usable. If the major components were working it wouldn’t be listed as a parts car.
Or Best Offer
If you run in to an add that lists a used car price quote followed by the term "OBO," or best offer, this means the seller is ok with a little bit of a negotiation. Be prepared for the seller to counter your offer though. In many cases this is often a way to tell you that someone else has offered more in an attempt to get you in to the car.
Knowing how to decipher what used car listings mean will help you when you are looking for a reliable used car. Be informed and you can find a great deal on transportation that will serve it’s purpose.
