Salvage yards often offer unbeatable deals for some of the more common early model cars. Some caution should be used when buying electrical parts from any junkyard, but non-wear items, body panels and interior parts can usually be had for an incredible value. Additionally, local "U-pull-it" type yards can be a fun way to pass a pleasant Saturday afternoon.

The ability to find the lowest price on automotive repair parts is one of the major benefits of do-it-yourself auto repair. The willingness to shop around for parts can save a substantial amount of cash. When it comes to a particular parts type, some will find certain sources are consistently cheaper than others. This doesn't make any one vendor better than another, but it does prove how important the research process truly is.
