Air Filter Installation Tips
If your car needs a new air filter, the installation process rather simple and straightforward. There's really not much to installing a new air filter, and you can generally complete the process in just a few minutes. Here are a few tips to help you install a new air filter into your car.
Step 1 - Buy the Right Filter
First, you should check the owner's manual that came with the car to find the part number for the filter your car uses. Regardless if you buy an original air filter from the dealership where you bought your car, or if you buy an aftermarket air filter, you will need this number. Jot the number down and take it with you when you go to buy the air filter.
Step 2 - Locate the Air Filter Housing Box
Most air filters are located in a square or rectangular plastic box. Most of the time, the box is black in color, and should be located on one side or the other of the engine block area towards the top.
Step 3 - Remove the Old Air Filter
Open the snaps on the air filter housing box, and simply take out the old air filter.
Step 4 - Clean the Filter Housing
Take a lightly damp rag or towel and wipe the entire air filter housing area and remove any dust and debris.
Step 5 - Insert the New Air Filter
Finally, set the new filter in to the housing exactly the same way the old one was situated. Then, replace the cover and close the snaps.
That's it. You have now replaced the air filter in your vehicle.
