• Understanding Honda Car Insurance Policies

Honda car insurance terminology can be confusing. You’re not terribly sure what types of coverages you need. This article will address this confusion and give you some information you might now have known before.

    Comp and Collision

This is the big one when dealing with a finance company on any sort of loan. This coverage will pay out the full market value of the vehicle in the case of a total loss. This means that if the car is stolen or completely wrecked in an accident, not only will what is left of your loan be paid off, but any equity you have in the vehicle will be paid to you. This type of coverage varies in price according to how much the vehicle is worth.

    Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist

This coverage pays whatever bills arise out of an accident with someone who has either no insurance coverage or not enough coverage to pay for everything that has happened to your car. It is usually a flat rate charge.

    Property Damage/Personal Liability

This type of coverage pays out, to the set limits, in case the accident is deemed your fault, or if you have no fault coverage. PD/PL, as it is known, is charged in the premium based upon how much payout you elect to receive. The higher the amount, the more you will pay on your premiums for it. The coverage pays to have damages to the involved vehicles repaired and medical bills to injured parties, up t the limits you set when you originally signed the papers for your policy. Make sure you get enough, but don’t pay too much for too much coverage.

    Roadside Assistance

Roadside assistance pays for the first 6 miles of towing when needed, about $5 worth of gas if you run out and for a tow truck to be dispatched to help change a flat tire.

With your new Honda, happiness and peace of mind are what you want as you drive off the lot. The top insurance agencies are currently GEICO, State Farm and Allstate. These three agencies can provide you with free quotes and reasonably priced policies to give you that peace of mind you desire. As long as you know what the words and terms mentioned here mean, you can shop for insurance coverage in an informed fashion.
