Car Speaker General Information

What Is a 2 Way Car Speaker?

A 2 way car speaker is generally the cheapest form of car audio. But what does this mean? A two-way car speaker is one that has a woofer and a tweeter. That means that it can handle low end sound, and high frequency sound at the same time. It all seems like technical jargon, but I assure you, it's much easier to understand than it first appears.

The cone of your car stereo speakers (also known as the woofer) works the same way that a subwoofer in your trunk does; it exists only to handle low frequency sound. These give you the loud boom noise that many stereo owners aim for. Then there is the smaller speaker within the cone of your speakers. This is a tweeter, and is designed to handle high frequency sound, such as vocal tracks. If you put both of these together, you have a speaker that handles low and high frequencies, and is therefore labeled as a two way speaker.
