What Are Component Car Speakers?
Component car speakers are one of several kinds of car stereo speakers available in the marketplace today. Component car speakers are the choice for most serious audio enthusiasts because they deliver more accurate and detailed sound than coaxial car speakers when installed properly.
Coaxial car speakers come as one unit that combines a woofer and tweeter into the same speaker. This is a convenient way to get better sound, however, the sound waves produced by the woofer will almost always get interference from the tweeter mounted on top of it.
With component car stereo speakers, the woofers and tweeters are mounted separately for less sound interference and more options for adjusting sound to your specific liking. This can be achieved in component systems with a car speaker crossover system. A component system usually comes with an external crossover that directs specific frequencies to the woofers and tweeters so they can play only the notes they are intended to play. Higher quality crossovers will even allow you to adjust the volume of the tweeter so your car speakers can deliver more realistic sound-staging to your vehicle.
When upgrading your car stereo speakers, components are usually the best way to go. Coaxial speakers have their benefits, but components deliver incredible accuracy and are rated very highly for a reason.
