Car Equalizers

Is a Car Audio Equalizer Worth Buying?

One part of a decent car stereo is a car audio equalizer. A car sound system will always include an equalizer which allows the user to control the music frequency. Frequency is the speed at which the signals are being transmitted to the system’s filters and then the car speakers. It directly affects the listener and the whole experience of the car.

Frequency can vary greatly throughout different types of music. Knowing how to adjust it can enhance the listening of even a casual music fan. Anyone who invests a great deal of money into a system, or spends a great deal of time listening to music in their car would be wise to learn how to tune an equalizer.

There are two kinds of equalizers. A graphic equalizer has a display of graphic bands that show the frequency signals vary and the sound changes accordingly. Even a music amateur can see how the frequency is affected with tuning and learn how to optimize their stereo.

A parametric equalizer is the type that usually comes with a car stereo. It has knobs that can be used to fine tune the frequency. It requires a bit more training, experience or the assistance of a professional.  It can be learned with a lot of trying, but since that is not advisable while driving, sedentary car stereo use would be mandatory, which is not necessarily in the schedule of the regular commuter or casual driver.

A graphic equalizer requires less of a time investment to learn how to properly use it. So, a little effort can mean a great improvement in your music quality. The choice here is about effort and budget. If you will be in your car a lot and will take the time to learn how to use it, a car audio equalizer is 100% worth the time and money you put into it.
